ASP CID INVESTIGATING FATAL STABBING IN EUDORA, SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

EUDORA, Ark. —  The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is investigating a homicide at the request of the Eudora Police Department (EPD) following a fatal stabbing on Tuesday afternoon.

On September 22, 2026, at around 4:15 p.m., EPD officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the Chicot Apartments office, located in the 600 block of Compress Street.

Upon arrival, EPD officers discovered Debra Cooper, 65, lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported Cooper to Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village, where she succumbed to her injuries.

EPD officers took the suspect, Caleb Johnson, 40, into custody at the scene.

The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the official manner and cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further details are available for release at this time.
